Church Close, Ashington, RH20 3DL
REF RM1298.
This is one of my favourite locations to sell in. Church Close is tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of Ashington, home to an established mix of detached and semi-detached family houses, yet you're within walking distance of the church, the primary school, the Red Lion and the village shops. You get the peace of a private close and the convenience of a proper village on your doorstep and that combination doesn't come up often. This home is one of the standout detached homes on the close, and the rear garden backs onto mature trees, giving it a level of privacy that's hard to find this close to the centre of the village.
Walk through the door and you're into a hallway with a downstairs WC off it, leading straight to a generous sitting room with a wood burner for the winter months. At the front of the house there's also a separate study or playroom, equally suited to working from home, a quiet reading room, or somewhere for the kids to spread out their toys. The kitchen is the real heart of the house: fitted units, a twin oven, integrated microwave, induction hob, and a large larder fridge, all built around an island with breakfast bar seating and opening into the dining area. Double doors lead through into a snug at the back, ideal as a second sitting room, with the utility tucked just off it and the garage accessible directly from there too.
Upstairs, the primary bedroom has fitted wardrobes and its own en-suite. The second bedroom is nearly as large, also with fitted wardrobes and its own en-suite. Three further bedrooms share a family bathroom, giving plenty of flexibility for a growing family or regular guests.
Outside, the garden is south-facing with a large patio terrace and a summerhouse in the far corner, a genuinely good spot to entertain or just sit out in the evening. A block-paved driveway takes several cars alongside the integral double garage.
In total the house extends to nearly 2,500 sq ft: five bedrooms, two en-suites, a family bathroom, and four separate reception spaces.
I'd point anyone toward Ashington itself as much as the house. It's a proper village rather than a housing estate with a shop bolted on: St Peter & St Paul church has stood here since the 12th century, Ashington CE Primary School on Foster Lane is a short walk away, and the Red Lion on London Road is a genuine 16th-century pub with real fires and a good garden for summer. Add a general store, pharmacy, post office, and an Indian restaurant, and you've got everything for daily life within a few minutes' walk. From here it's a quick drive onto the A24 for Horsham, Worthing, and the coast, and the South Downs are visible from the upper floors.
